Music - The Caves of Altamira by Steely Dan

Photographed in 1985 by my dad and in 1995 by me, both using film.

DISCLAIMER - Photos WITHOUT my watermark were found on the internet, and WILL NOT be sold.

Location - Dale Mabry Highway just to the southeast of old Tampa Stadium (demolished) and Raymond James stadium.

Named after former White Sox manager and Tampa Bay native, Al Lopez. Lopez died in 2005 at the age of 97.

The site is now part of Raymond James stadium. The old first base stands are in the southeast corner of the stadium, and the third base side is in the south end zone area.

Al Lopez field opened as a spring training facility in March of 1955. It was originally home to the Chicago White Sox who held spring training there until 1959. The Cincinnati Reds then moved their spring training to Al Lopez field from 1960 until 1987.

It was also home to the FSL Tampa Tarpons from 1957 until 1988.

The old stadium was demolished in the spring of 1989.
