Joe Louis Arena - Opened in 1979 and still in use. Home to the Detroit Red WIngs of the NHL (1971 - present). Also the temporary home court for the Detroit Pistons of the NBA, 1984 - 1985.

Tenants included the parent Red Wings from 1979 till 2017, the NBA Pistons in 1985, The Detroit Drive of the AFL, the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors of the OHL and the Detroit Junior Red Wings of the OHL.

The Red Wings played their final game at the Joe on April 7th 2017. The Wings sent the old arena out a winner 4-1 over New Jersey.

The Red Wings will move into their new home, the Little Caesars Arena, which is being built just about a block north of Comerica Park.

Joe Louis arena is breathing its last few gasps, as in the near future, the Joe will be demolished.
