Music - Pushin too hard by the Seeds

Photographed in 1987 using film and in October of 2016 using digital.

NOTE - There are VERY few photos available of McCarver Stadium in Memphis. I was only there once in October of 1987, which was a VERY cold, rainy, grey day. I went back in October of 2016 for a U of Memphis football game. The site is vacant, and used for the Liberty Bowl parking. A faint outline of the infield is still visible.

Tim McCarver Stadium - Opened in 1963, closed in 1999 and demolished in 2005. The stadium replaced old Russwood park which burned down in 1960.

Home to the Memphis Blues - New York Mets (1968 - 1973), Montreal Expos (1974 - 1975), and Houston Astros 1976. Memphis Chicks - Montreal Expos (1978 - 1983), Kansas CIty Royals (1984 - 1994), San Diego Padres (1995 - 1996), Seattle Mariners (1997). And finally, the Memphis Redbirds - St. Louis Cardinals (1998-1999). The Redbirds moved to Autozone Park after the 1999 season. Basically, after the Redbirds left, Tim McCarver Stadium sat abandoned.

Location - Early Maxwell Blvd. and Central Ave. (left field) Memphis, Tennessee In the parking lot for the Liberty Bowl and Mid-South Coliseum.

You can see the outline of the fence in the outfield, and the outline of the old infield.
