Capital Centre / U.S. Air Arena (demolished) - Landover, Maryland
Ballparks, Arenas and Stadiums > Capital Centre / U.S. Air Arena (demolished) - Landover, Maryland
Music - Viva La Vida by Coldplay

Photographed in 1991 and 1997 using film.

The old Cap Center was by FAR the darkest arena I have ever been in. I had a lot of problems with the lighting. The interior photos are from 1997. Another note is when I was in the arena, the concourses seemed very dingy, peeling paint and overall kind of dirty. BUT, it was LOUD.

Capital Centre - Opened in 1973, closed in 1998 and finally imploded in 2002. Home to the Washington / Capital Bullets / Washington Wizards of the NBA, Washington Capitals of the NHL and the Georgetown Hoyas NCAA 1980 - 1997. The Cap Centre replaced the Baltimore Arena as home court for the Bullets. The Baltimore is still in use in downtown Baltimore. Both the Capitals and Wizards moved to the Verizon Center in downtown Washington DC in 1997.

Location - 2 Harry S. Truman Drive Landover, Maryland. The old Cap Centre site is now an outdoor mall known as the Boulevard at Capital Centre.
