Music - We're an American band by Grand Funk Railroad The Railroad is from nearby Flint, Michigan.

Silverdome - Opened in 1975, closed in 2006 and reopened in 2010. Originally known as the Pontiac Metropolitan Stadium (1975), Pontiac SIlverdome 1976 - 2010. Home of the NFL Detroit Lions 1975 - 2001, Detroit Pistons (NBA) 1978 - 1988, Michigan Panthers (USFL) 1983 - 1984. Also played host to Super Bowl XVI on January 24, 1982. That saw the San Francisco 49ers win their first Super Bowl and go on their amazing run.

Location - 1200 Featherstone Road Pontiac, Michigan

Personally, I believe what doomed the Silverdome with the NFL was its location and the lack of luxury suites. True, as a home for the Lions, it was much better than the Lions former home, Tiger Stadium. But, without the revenue from luxury suites et al, the Silverdome quickly became obsolete. In a sad state of Michigan real estate prices, the Silvedome sold at auction in 2009 for $550,00.00. A far cry from the $55.7 million price tag to build. Hopefully, the new ownership group will turn the Silverdome into a useful venue again.
