Empire Stadium photographed in 1993 using film.

Empire Stadium - Opened in 1954 and demolished in 1993. Stadium was rebuilt in 2010 as a temporary home for the B.C. Lions of the CFL, while BC Place was being renovated. Demolished in 2011. Located just east of Pacific Coliseum at the PNE grounds in Hastings Park. Home of the B.C. Lions from 1954-1982.

The stadium was host to the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. Also home to the BC Lions of the CFL from 1954 till 1982. And the Vancouver whitecaps of the NASL from 1974 - 1983. The Whitecaps were the last main tenant at Empire.

The stadium hosted its first CFL Grey Cup in 1955. All in all the CLF held 7 Grey Cup games here.

When I saw the stadium in December of 1993, it was in real bad shape. Neglected and falling apart, waiting for the wrecking ball.

Location - East Hastings St., Vancouver, British Columbia
