HP Pavilion "the Shark Tank" - Opened in 1993. Known as the San Jose Arena 1993 - 2001, Compaq Center 2001 - 2002, HP Pavilion 2002 - 2013 and the SAP Center 2014 - present.

Second home for the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. The Sharks were formed in 1991 and played their first two seasons at the antiquated Cow Palace in Daily City. The Cow Palace is about 40 miles north of San Jose off US 101.

Also calling the arena home are the San Jose SabreCats of the AFL from 1995-2008 and from 2011-2105. After winning Arena Bowl XXVII in 2015, the team abruptly folded for no given reason.

The Golden State Warriors played here from 1996 thru 1997 as the Oracle Arena in Oakland was being refurbished.

The other main tenant right now are the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL, a farm team for the Sharks. They have been here since 2015.

Teams that came and went were the San Jose Grizzlies of the CISL from 1994-1995, the San Jose Rhinos RHI from 1994 - 1997, the San Jose Lasers of the ABL from 1996 - 1998 and the NLL San Jose Stealth from 2004 - 2009.
