The visitors clubhouse shots are for football now. But back in the day, this WAS the visitors clubhouse for baseball. Extra lockers have been added to the middle of the room. For 29 years, the Giants and the 49ers used the same clubhouse / locker room. Basically, the area is a two story clubhouse. The Giants had the larger upper clubhouse, while the 49ers had the lower, smaller one. Go figure! Picture number 8 on this tour is the ONLY clue that the Giants once called Candlestick home. The old scoreboard is hidden under the right field stand extension. There was talk of the Giants playing a home series in 2010 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Candlestick Park. Unfortunately, the cost was prohibitive. The dugouts would have to be redone. And the biggest obstacle were the extension of stands in right field. They used to be moveable, but time and the salt air have made the stands immoveable. So the idea was scrapped.
The ONLY thing left at the Stick to let you know the Giants played here. This scoreboard was hidden under the roll out right field stands.
This used to be the Giants clubhouse. It was expanded for the 49ers once the Giants left.
This was the Giants managers office, later for the 49ers head coach.
Downtown San Francisco, about 6 miles from where Candlestick stood.
Hunters Point naval shipyard. The 49ers were thinking of putting a stadium here. Never happened.
