Arco Arena II has been the home of the Sacramento Kings since it opened in 1988. The arena was built to replace the temporary Arco Arena I, which was located about a mile east of the new arena. The Sacramento Kings of the NBA have continuously sold out the building. The arena is known as one of the loudest in the league. In 2011, the arena was renamed Power Balance Pavilion. Power balance is an athletic wrist band. The arena was also home to the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA. The team folded in 2009. The Sacramento Attack of the AFL had a short lived 1 year run at the arena in 1992. The team moved to Florida to become the Bobcats. The other main tenant was the Sacramento Knights of the WISL and CISL. They played indoor soccer there from 1993 to 2001.
The voters have spoken, and the city of Sacramento is getting a brand new arena. It is to be built just north of downtown in an abandoned rail yard. While PB Pavilion sells out, it is antiquated. It is also considered one of the worst arenas in the NBA. The Sacramento Kings had threatened to move if they didn't get a new facility.
Another little bit of trivia... there is an unfinished baseball stadium just to the north of PB Pavilion. The Sacramento sports authority ran out of money in 1989 and the stadium was never completed. All that is showing of the construction is the concrete foundation for the seating bowl. The lot is overgrown with weeds. It will never be completed due to the construction of Raley field, about 5 miles from the arena. Raley field is home to the Sacramento RiverCats of the PCL.

Arco Arena was built north of downtown Sacramento. Basically there was nothing around the arena when it was built. Not so anymore. Apartments, stores, shops, restaurants, hotels... just about everything. 2/88
