Fairgrounds Field - Opened in 1986 and is still standing.

Location -2109 Pershing Blvd. Shreveport, Louisiana Fairgrounds Field is on the Louisiana state fairgrounds - Bounded by I-20, US 80. Jewell Ave., Hearne Ave.

Fairgrounds Field which opened in 1986 replaced the decrepit old Spar Stadium as home for the Shreveport Captains. The Captains played in the Texas League up until 2000 when they changed their name to the Swamp Dragons. The Swamp Dragons left after the 2002 season for Frisco Texas. The Shreveport-Bossier Captains played in the independent American Association and Central baseball league from 2003 thru 2011. They left for Laredo Texas for the 2012 season. As of now, Fairgounds field has no regular tenant. High Schools and local colleges have used the field.

The field has not had a major tenant since 2011 and the field is in disrepair. Though not closed, Fairgrounds Field needs a major influx of money to make it playable again. There are no plans to demolish it as of 2017.
