Madison Square Garden IV "the Garden," "The World's most famous Arena." - Opened in 1968 and still in use. The new Garden replaced MSG III. The Garden was built on the site of the old Penn Station. The Garden has had 2 major renovations, the first in 1991 and the second in 2011-2013.
Longtime home to the New York Rangers of the NHL and the New York Knicks of the NBA. Both teams moved to the new Garden from MGS III. The WHA had a team here (the New York Raiders/ Golden Blades) from 1972 - 1973. St. John's University basketball has played here since 1969. The Garden is also the site of the NCAA NIT tournament.
