Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium was opened in 1950 and is still in use. Right now, it is the main home for Jackson State football. However, Jackson State has talked about leaving and building their own domed stadium on campus. It would house both football and basketball. Jackson State has played here since 1967. The Ole Miss Rebels played selected games here from 1953 thru 1996. Mississippi State played select games here from 1953 thru 1990. The other big school in Mississippi, Souther Mississippi, also played a select group of games from 1952 thru 1988.

The stadium is showing signs of wear and is in need of a makeover. With JSU and its uncertainty, the end may be near. If JSU builds its own facility, the old stadium will probably be razed. The nearby University of Mississippi medical center wants to put a new research and treatment facility on the site.
