Legacy Arena - Birmingham, Alabama
Ballparks, Arenas and Stadiums > Legacy Arena - Birmingham, Alabama
Music - Friends in low places by Garth Brooks

Photographed in 1987 using film (sorry for the grainy interiors) and in September of 2016 using digital.

Legacy Arena - Opened in 1976 as the Birmingham - Jefferson Civic Center. Changed to BJCC Coliseum, then BJCC Arena. In 2014, the Legacy Arena at the BJCC became its new name. The Legacy for short. The arena is a part of the Birmingham - Jefferson Convention complex.

The arena played host to the old WHA, as the old Toronto Toros moved and became the Birmingham Bulls. The Bulls were here from 1976 to 1981 when they folded.

The UAB Blazers played here from 1976 till 1988, when their new on campus arena was built.

The Birmingham Bulls came back, sort of, as a member of the ECHL. They lasted from 1992 till 2001, when they were sold and became the Stockton Thunder.

The Birmingham / Alabama Steeldogs of Af2 (arena football) played here from 2000 till 2007 when they were deactivated..basically folded. No new ownership could be found.

Location - 2100 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd N. Birmingham, Alabama. Pretty much just north of Downtown Birmingham.
